A GORGEOUS DAY OF BLESSINGS

The Lord blessed our ministry with another incredible day of meeting new people, listening to them share their stories, and being able to assist families who needed a lift in their day.

This was probably our biggest group of customers since Families Helping Families started doing yard sales as fundraisers for unemployed/underemployed families. We had such a great time ministering, visiting, getting acquainted, being personal shoppers, and networking with one another.

A particular highlight was the way Marlene, new volunteer, coordinated outfits for clients. She assembled clothing and accessories, which looked like they were ready for the Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom catalog – I mean truly spectacular. THAT was fun!

Thank you God for giving us a day of beauty, friendship, service, and goodness.

PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW

Today, Saturday, August 6th was certainly a day that flowed with God’s blessings as our ministry served the community by hosting a yard sale to assist unemployed local families. Nine members of our Families Helping Families team eagerly set-up for the yard sale at 6:00 a.m., only stopping briefly to ask God’s blessing just before opening our sale to some eager customers. The day was electrifying with fun loving, kind, and lively families who shopped; gracious, helpful volunteers who did everything possible to meet the needs of the customers, and weather that was orchestrated from our Lord above.

There was an atmosphere of happiness as children discovered legos, puzzles, board games, stuffed animals, tents, dolls, intricate models, purses, and even clothes that were affordable and ready to be wrapped up for them. And the parents, oh my goodness, bought fanciful treasures they couldn’t resist, gorgeous costume jewelry, plates, games, linens, dishes, and fancy items from England, as well as like new purses, shoes, clothes, and every imaginable gadget and tool. It was SO much fun to see their expressions as they debated about whether or not they could “pass up this deal”, and usually they couldn’t.

Many of our customers are regulars who enter the driveway with greetings, open arms, and quick questions as to “what are the specials today”. They notice who is missing from our usual Families Helping Families volunteer team, and ask about him or her in a friendly, caring way.

It was a beautiful day – stirring, rousing, rewarding, elevating, exalting and even powerful. If you weren’t here this time, we missed you and invite you to another sale the first week-end of September.
